Fall Fun, What To Do This Month

The Fall season, especially the month of October, is always filled with tons of fun activities.  From apple picking to hayrides and pumpkin carving, there are still so many things that we can do while staying safe this holiday season.

Here is our 2020 list of fun Fall activities!

Wise Acres:  Open by reservation only, at Wise Acres you can enjoy seasonal berry picking and a visit to the pumpkin patch, a hayride, a walk through the sun hemp maze, wooded fall scavenger hunt, playgrounds, visit with the animals, and pizza (on certain days).  The farm is currently booked on the weekends until after Halloween, however, there is still availability on the weekdays!

Rural Hill Amazing Maize Maze:  Get lost in seven acres of corn; perfect for socially-distanced, outdoor, family friendly fun! The Amazing Maize Maze is one of the largest corn mazes in the Southeast.  Masks are required to entire the maze.

Scarrigan Farms:  On select October nights, our 170 acre farm is transformed into the scariest haunted trail in the region. If you are looking for a new and out of the ordinary way to get your heart pumping and adrenaline rushing this October, Scarrigan Farms is the place for you.  Reservations are strongly recommended!

Carrigan Farms:  If the haunted trail is not for you, then this is a great alternative. In October, each trip to the pumpkin patch includes picking your own pumpkin, right off the vine! Trips to the patch generally last about 50 minutes from start to finish and include a stop at the petting zoo. This year masks are required on the shuttles to the pumpkin patch and wherever six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.

Patterson Farm:   There are tons of fun activities at Patterson Farm.  Pumpkin Patch, Treasure Mine Adventure Tours, Corn Maize Tours, and Geocaching are all available by appointment.  There are also Moovies on the Farm, Big Red’s Slide, a playground, pony rides, barnyard animals, duck races, and much more!

Apple Hill Orchard:  Apple Hill Orchard is located between Charlotte and Asheville, conveniently located 4 miles from I-40, south of Morganton, North Carolina. The length of the u-pick season is dependent upon weather and the number of visitors.

Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill:  Windy Hill Orchard is a family owned and operated boutique apple orchard and Hard Cider producer located in the upstate of South Carolina.  Open every Fall from Mid August until Christmas we offer visitors, Award Winning Hard CidersPick Your Own Apples, Fresh Pressed Apple Cider, Fresh Made Apple Products, and much much more.  If you are wanting to avoid crowds, long lines, and potential product shortages we highly recommend visiting on a weekday or waiting till November or December!

Sky Top Orchard: At Sky Top Orchard you’ll enjoy panoramic mountain views, orchard ponds with ducks and geese, a barnyard area with sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks and more, a bamboo forest to explore, lots of picnic areas and, of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple and fruit trees.  They do recommend visiting during the weekday whenever possible.
