Easy Last Minute Thanksgiving Dishes

thanksgivingcooking

Is it just us or do Holidays tend to just creep up on you?  You knew the day was coming, but somehow it is the day before Thanksgiving and you have yet to even think about what dish you are going to contribute to your family’s Thanksgiving dinner.  Or maybe you have just ran out of time because you were too busy doing other important things, like decorating for Christmas.  Whatever the reason for your procrastination may be, we are here to help!  Here are a few of our favorite quick and easy Thanksgiving dishes.

Appetizers:

Brie and Fig Cups

Need:  1 package of mini fillo shells (you can find them in the frozen section)

small piece of brie cheese (it’s ok to leave the skin on)

fig jam (usually found in the cheese or gourmet section)

sliced almonds

What to do:   Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Put a small cube of cheese in each cup.  Then top with 1/2 to 1 tsp. of the fig jam.  Sprinkle a few almonds on top.  Bake 10 minutes or until melted and bubbly!

Sausage Stuffed Dates Wrapped in Bacon

Need: 1 package of ground sausage (I usually go for medium spice)

1 container of Dates

1 package of Bacon

What to do:  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Cut the dates lengthwise (remove the seed if there is one).  Roll a small amount of ground sausage into a ball and place it into the date.  Wrap in a piece of bacon (sometimes I half the bacon to have more).  Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes or until the sausage is cooked thru.  I like to broil them on high for about 2-3 minutes to get the bacon extra crispy.
