Designing Your Home with Wood Accents

There are many different ways that you can incorporate wood accents into your home to achieve that rustic look.  From the exterior of your home to the interior, here are several ways to add wood accents into your new home.

Cedar Posts.  We now see more homeowners replacing their white exterior columns with stained cedar posts instead.

Stained bead board.  Often times the ceiling is overlooked, but treating your ceiling as the 5th wall will really add character to your home.  And don’t forget your porch!  Adding stained bead board really adds that wow factor to the front entry of this home.

Barn doors.  We have been adding more and more barn doors to our homes.  Typically we have left the doors a white color, or painted them the same wall color as the home, but in this home the homeowner chose to have them stained to match all the wood features.  They definitely stand out this way!

The Front Door.   One of the first things that people see as they enter your home.  There is just something very classic about a stained front door, and it ties in nicely with the rest of the front porch.

Cedar Mantel.  A stone fireplace with a cedar mantel is a great alternative to the classic white mantels, not to mention a great way to make a statement in any family room.

Remember it’s the small details that will really make your home stand out.
