Adding a Personal Touch to Your New Home

Adding a Personal Touch to Your New Home

Building your new home is both fun and exciting!  Being a part of the Niblock process and seeing your home built from the ground up is truly a special experience.

So, let’s focus on the exciting part of building your own home: adding your personal touch! Now’s the time to pull out your dream home wish list and let’s start making it happen.

Since we’re building this home from the ground up, let’s start by focusing on the flooring in your new home. Are you a big fan of gorgeous hardwood floors? There are several options for you to choose from.  From light engineered hardwood flooring to a dark laminate flooring, we have a variety of flooring selections for you to choose from.

Do you like sinking into soft carpet when you wake up in the morning? Finding the perfect texture of carpet for the bedrooms might be on the top of your list.

Unlike with renting a home or buying an existing home, you aren’t stuck with floors chosen by a previous homeowner. No need to replace old carpet or scuffed tiling when you’re building your new home. Play around with different flooring materials and styles until you find one that matches your own unique taste.

Lighting is where new homeowners can really add their personal flare. Not everyone is going to agree on the same light fixtures, and for many, selecting the lighting in their new home can be a very personal thing.

Go as elaborate or minimal as you like here. Choose from decorative chandeliers, functional lighted ceiling fans, or add extra recessed can lights. Also don’t forget to add under cabinet lights or lights inside your glass cabinets.

Another place to add a personal touch to your home’s design are the countertops. There are so many options out there: granite, quartz, and even butcher-block wood. You can choose countertops with a very bold veining or a more minimalist look with very little.  Some people like darker counters, while others prefer very light or white countertops.

Kitchen cabinet hardware, bathroom knobs and pulls, the exterior and interior doorknobs and handles, even the color and style of your faucets are all selections that you get to make when designing your new home.

This is your home, and there are no limits. You have complete control over every cabinet, every drawer, and even every door selection. They will all open and close with whatever hardware you like the most.

These are so many different ways that you can add a personal touch to your new home. Adding a bit of yourself to the design process will make your home that much more special to you and your family. So, take some time and indulge yourself – it’s not every day you get to build your new dream home.
