45 Years of Niblock Homes

2024 marks the 45th year of Niblock Homes!  45 years of being the leading local homebuilder in Cabarrus County and the Greater Charlotte Region.  A lot can happen over the span of 45 years, a lot can change as well.  Let’s start at the beginning, the year was 1979.

3 brothers, Frank, William, and Marc Niblock built their first home in 1979. Jimmy Carter was president at the time, the Bee Gees and Disco led the music charts, and Rocky 2 and Star Trek were the top movies to watch.

The population of Charlotte was 345,000. (Today it is 2,321,000) Cabarrus County had a population of 84,000. (Today it is 244,000) There were no Charlotte Hornets, no Carolina Panthers.  NCNB (in lieu of Bank of America) and First Union (in lieu of Wells Fargo) led the banking world. The Crosland Company was the leading homebuilder in the region.

Cannon Mills was the largest employer in Cabarrus County and led the world in the manufacture of sheets and towels.  Phillip Morris was in the process of building the world’s largest cigarette manufacturing company in Concord.

Carter, the Bee Gees, Disco, NCNB, First Union, The Crosland Company, Cannon Mills, Phillip Morris, all are gone.

Niblock Homes remains and is thriving.

 Over our 45-year history, Niblock has built over 4,500 homes in the metro Charlotte region. We have developed close to 100 neighborhoods.
