Spring Lawn Care Tips
March is in full swing, and with this month comes the hope that warm weather is right around the corner. I think it is safe to say that everyone is ready for warmer sun filled days!
March and April are the month where your lawns start to return to their shades of green, flowers start to bloom, and everything that went dormant in the colder months start to come back to life. Here are a few tips to help you prepare your yard for the upcoming months.
Raking: This will be your first task of spring lawn care. Raking is more than just removing leaves. It’s purpose is to control thatch (thatch is the layer of dead turfgrass tissue such as stems, leaves, and roots.)
Liming: Grass likes a neutral pH. You can solve this problem by liming your soil.
Overseeding: If your lawn has bare patches due to dogs, heavy traffic, or neglect, then you may need to apply grass seed to fill the bare patches.
Fertilizer: Lawns can be fertilized organically by compost and mulching mowers, or with chemical fertilizers.
With these simple tips your lawn will be looking green and lush in no time!
