5 Safety Items You Need To Have in Your Home
You never know when an emergency might occur, and it is always better to be over prepared then not prepared at all. Here is a list of 5 items that we believe every homeowner should have in their home.
- A Fire Extinguisher. According to an article written by Property Casualty 360, The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says there are more than 360,000 home structure fires each year, resulting in about $6-8 billion dollars in damage. The cause of majority of these fires range from food left on the stove to burning candles. So if your home does not have a fire extinguisher, today might be a good day to go and buy one!
- A First Aid Kit. Having a First-Aid Kit already made and in your home is always a smart idea. From band aids to ointments and creams, a pre-made First Aid Kit will be a life savor when your kid scrapes their knee! For a full list of what your kit should contain, click here.
- A Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Detector. Of course all of our homes already come with these detectors, but making sure batteries get replaced is completely up to the homeowner. Changing the batteries when Day Light Savings occurs will help you stay on schedule. So remember this Sunday when the time changes, so should your batteries!
- An Emergency Contact List. It is always a great idea to have a complete list of emergency contacts typed and near by. This is a great list to leave with any babysitters, and will make it easier on you when you are frantic and can’t think straight!
- A Flashlight and Batteries. You can never predict when the power might go out. Keeping a flashlight and extra batteries in a night stand or drawer is always a smart idea.
