The Kitchen and The Master Bath

According to Trulia, the rooms buyers most closely inspect ( and judge) in a house are the kitchen and master bathroom.  These are also the interior spaces where the most value can be added during a sale, so they need to look their best.

So whether you are getting ready to put your home on the market, or you are building a new home, it is always a good idea to budget more for these 2 spaces in your home.

The Kitchen

What is popular?  Light and bright is always appealing to most homebuyers.  White (or neutral) cabinets, a clean looking backsplash, and updated counter tops (granite is most popular, quarts is gaining popularity, and marble is most expensive) will not only feel more inviting to you and potential buyers, but it can also make your kitchen space appear larger.

So our biggest tip when either deciding what to update, or deciding what selections to choose for your new home, always lean towards the neutral color palette.

The Master Bath

Just like the kitchen, the Master Bathroom is another room in the home that needs to “wow” its guests.  Updated sink bowls (square is gaining popularity), new faucets (bye bye gold), new lighting, and upgraded mirrors (framed is the way to go), are all fairly easy updates.

If you are building a new home, you may want to consider spending a little extra money in this room.  For most people, the master bathroom is that one room in their home where they can go and unwind.  So when designing your bathroom, keep in mind how you plan to use it.  Perhaps a walk-in Spa shower or a free standing tub?  Whatever way you prefer to relax, it will be well worth it to spend a little bit extra in this space.
