The Many Ways to Use Baking Soda in Your Home

A cooking ingredient, a deodorizer, and a cleaning agent all rolled into one little box.  There are numerous ways that you can use baking soda in your home, and out of all of the ingredients/cleaners that you keep stocked at home, baking soda is our number 1 pick.  Here are our top 10 favorite ways to use this versatile product.

Deodorizer:  Keep a box open in your fridge and you will never have to worry about that left over food odor.

Clean produce:  Mixed with a little bit of water, baking soda is a great way to clean your fruits and veggies and remove that waxy film.

Cleaning your kitchen and bathroom:  Range hoods, microwaves, counter tops, grout and tile, can all benefit from a good baking soda scrub.

Clean your greasy pans and stained containers:  You can easily refresh your old dingy plastic containers with baking soda.  Also let your greasy pans and pots soak with warm water and baking soda before giving them a good scrub.

De-stink those pet beds:  Sprinkle a little baking soda over your dog’s bed and then vacuum it up.

Freshen up musty upholstery and rugs:  Just like with the dog beds, sprinkle baking soda on couch cushions, carpet, rugs, etc.  Wait about 10 minutes and then vacuum it up.

Cooking:  This might be one of the most obvious uses of them all.  Baking Soda is still one of the key ingredients in many recipes.

Oven cleaner:  Sprinkle some on the bottom of your oven, spray with water, let sit over night, and then wipe clean!

Laundry booster:  Adding Baking Soda to your laundry helps soften your water which makes your clothes cleaner, softer, and smell better.

Wipe down patio furniture:  Give your outdoor furniture a good scrub this Spring with Baking Soda and water.
