Holiday Fun in Charlotte

The Grinch Image

Between work, getting last minute gifts, and the 70 degree weather we have been experiencing, it can be tough to get into the holiday spirit.  So if you are one of those people who feels more like the Grinch this year, here is a great list of fun holiday events that will help get you in the holiday spirit!

Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway:  The hours are 6pm to 10pm. Drive through the infield and see 800 displays made up of more than 3 million holiday lights. On Thursdays through Sundays, the Christmas Village is open too, including a realistic Bethlehem-themed village, a petting zoo, photos with Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides, Santa’s Workshop for kids, and areas with food and music.

Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shop:  Bass Pro Shops, at Concord Mills, is hosting Santa’s Wonderland 2015, featuring FREE photos with Santa, crafts, games and activities. The festivities take place November 14th through December 24th, 2015.

Holidays at the Garden (Daniel Stowe):     Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, at 6500 South New Hope Road, Belmont, is worth the short 15-minute drive from Charlotte, especially during the Christmas season. From November 20th, 2015, through January 3rd, with the exception of Christmas, the light displays will start at 5 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m.

The Train to Christmas Town:  The conductor welcomes you aboard and punch your ticket as you find your seat in warm, decorated cars. Meet Bumblebee the Polar Bear, Wabash the Squirrel, even Zephyr the depot cat and laugh along with Elves while they’re busy serving cookies and cocoa, and leading guests in singing Christmas carols.

McAdenville Tree Lighting and Yule log festival:  McAdenville Christmas is a tradition.  McAdenville calls itself Christmas Town USA and with good reason.  Hundreds of thousands of lights set the scene for holiday displays. The lights will glow nightly: Monday – Friday 5:30 – 9:30 pm and Saturday & Sunday 5:30 – 11 pm, through December 26th. It’s recommended that you visit Monday through Thursday if possible. You’ll encounter longer waits on the weekends
