Design Trends to Look for in 2018!

New home design trends and styles are always changing.  What was popular in 2017 might have lost some of its appeal by 2018.  Here are our top 5 design trends for 2018.

 More color in the kitchen.  2-toned cabinets, upper cabinets one color while the bottom cabinets are another, using color such as navy instead of the typical wood stains, these are all kitchen trends that we predict to see more of in the upcoming year.

While we will always love a white farmhouse sink, but 2018 is going to be the year of darker hues for your sink.  Copper and stone farmhouse sinks are gaining popularity.  We love the sink below that we recently installed in one of our custom on your lot homes.  They were certainly on-trend for 2018!

Vintage lighting.  Pendants, scones, chandeliers, etc. will have more of that retro/industrial look to them in 2018.  This trend will look great with the copper sink.  Below is a photo of the pendant lighting that we currently have in our Laurel Park Inventory home.

Wall paper-like back splash.  Instead of using tile, the trend in 2018 is to use wall paper instead.  While this might cut some costs by not using tile, tile is way more durable and easy to clean.  A great idea for using this wall paper trend is to use it somewhere like a butlers pantry, bar area, or laundry room, that way the chance of food splattering on your beautiful new wall is slim.

Natural elements.  Stone, copper, and concrete are all big for 2018.  Copper sinks and fixtures, concrete floors and even concrete counter tops will be a design trend to look out for this year!
