Design Trends for 2016

Design trends are always changing, and just when you think something in your home is outdated or out of style, the trend comes back around.  So whats hot and whats not for 2016?

White Walls with bold accents:  White is no longer viewed as boring.  Benjamin Moore did name Simply White as their color of the year for 2016.  Think of white walls as a blank canvas for your colored sofas, or lacquered pieces of furniture.  White walls also look great with rustic wood beams or a coffered ceiling.

Wallpaper (the bolder the better):  Use wallpaper in fun prints and patterns.  Don’t limit the fun patterns to just the walls, you can put wallpaper in dresser drawers, on the backs of bookshelves or even on your stair risers!

Eclectic Style:  No more matchy matchy.  Use different cultural influences to create your space.

Cabinets:  Use more than just white.  Mix and match your kitchen cabinets.  Use a bolder color on your island and then white or a neutral color on your cabinets.  Fun fact, this is free of charge in our Design Studio!

Multipurpose Family Spaces:  Parents want their kids nearby when they are using computers.  Pocket offices off the garage are a great for this, or a nook in your kitchen can be the perfect spot for homework.

Fixtures that double as art:  Your hanging pendant lights or family room light fixture can double as art or decor in your home.  Polished bronze is very popular for 2016!
